What actually happens to a paper visiting card
You hand over a card. The other person puts it in a wallet, a shirt pocket or a drawer. A few of them get typed into a phone that evening. The great majority sit somewhere until they are thrown away, and when the person eventually needs you, they search their phone, do not find you, and either ask a mutual contact or call someone else.
That is the ordinary fate of a visiting card, and it is not a failure of the card. It is what happens when a piece of paper is the bridge between meeting someone and being contactable by them. The information has to be copied by hand to be useful, and copying by hand is the step people skip.
The gap between the handshake and the contact list
A digital card closes that specific gap. You send a link on WhatsApp while you are still standing there. They tap it, they tap save, and your name, number, email, business name and address are in their phone contacts before the conversation has finished. There is no typing and nothing to lose.
That single change accounts for most of the value. Everything else the card does is genuinely useful, but this is the part that decides whether a person you met in March can reach you in September.
Details change, and paper cannot follow

The card records when it was viewed. That is a modest feature with a surprisingly practical use: after a day of meetings you can see which of the people you shared it with actually opened it, which is a reasonable signal of where a follow-up is worth your time. A paper card tells you nothing at all.
For a team, not just an individual
Where a business wants cards for several people, they share a look, the company details and the logo, while each carries its own name, designation, number and photograph. When the office address changes, it changes on all of them at once. That is a genuine administrative saving for any business that has ever reprinted a full set of cards because one line moved.

Where a digital card fits, and where you need more
A digital visiting card is the cheapest way to be properly contactable, and for a consultant, an agent or a one-person business it genuinely does a lot. What it does not do is get you found. Nobody searches Google for a visiting card - they search for the service, and that is where a website and search visibility do the work instead.
The sensible order for most people is a card first, because it is quick and immediately useful, then a proper site when there is something worth ranking for. Does the person receiving it need an app?
No. It opens in any browser. They can also save your details straight into their phone contacts without installing anything, which is the whole point of it.
Can I use it alongside a paper card?
Plenty of people do, and it is the arrangement we usually recommend - print the QR code on the paper card so it works both ways. The person who wants paper gets paper, and the person who scans gets everything in their contacts.
What if my phone number changes?
Edit the card and it updates everywhere instantly, including for everyone who already saved your link. This is the single biggest practical difference from print, where every card already handed out becomes wrong.
Can I have cards for my whole team?
Yes. They share the company branding and details while each person has their own name, designation, photograph and number. When the office address changes, it changes on all of them at once.
Does it work on iPhone as well as Android?
Yes, on both, and on a computer. It is a web page rather than an app, so anything with a browser can open it and the save-to-contacts step works on both platforms.
Can I put it on my shop board or my vehicle?
Yes - the QR code can be printed at any size, on anything. Shop boards, vehicles, packaging, invoices, exhibition badges and banners are all common. The code does not change, so it only has to be printed once.
What happens if I stop paying for it?
The card stops being available at that link. We will tell you before that happens rather than letting it disappear quietly, and your details are yours to take elsewhere at any point.
Is it customisable, or is everyone given the same design?
It is built around your branding - your colours, your logo, your photograph. If you already have a website or a printed identity, we match it so the card does not look like a separate business.
